Macro Monday 47, close, closer, closest

I just love the little hens and chicks flowers. There's a formal name for them, but I don't know it. The towers they build to flower look so alien. Although the photos are presented from close to closer, that isn't actually the order they were shot in. The first one is not a macro shot, it just gives you  context. We rescued this colony from a neighbour who was fixing their garden, and they've thrived. There are Iris that are growing in much the same space, so I hope their buddies.

The second and maybe third are at best on the cusp of being a macro. Four to seven are macros for sure, with the last one being shot at just under 5x. Unfortunately the meta data doesn't tell me what the magnification is.

4. To give you a sense of scale this flower is about 2.5 cm from petal tip to petal tip, and the little yellow tips are a little over a cm in diameter.

5. These yellow tips are barely visible to the naked eye.
