The salmonid centre

No, not a spelling mistake. See for yourself, here. Nor is there a fish cop to check fish id to see if they are old enough to breed. I don't know where that name came from. In fact, it's a facility attached to a fish ladder around the Bishop Falls power dam. We regretted that the highly reviewed cafe was closed the day we were there.

1. A salmon working it's way up the ladder.

2. It's a seriously rugged landscape, with huge warning signs about not going beyond the fence. In some warning signs the dangers are not obvious and the sign is needed. In this case, any fool can see that going beyond the fence is risking death by maiming then drowning. And yet, I'd bet money they've had to bring out the rescue equipment for some fool who said, 'hold my beer.' Or maybe they delegate that to the crows and ravens.

6. Linda is not getting screeched in. This is a salmon, not a cod.

7. Pretty talented artist to make it out of driftwood.

8.

9. The real thing. Part of the ladder has viewing windows.

I'm not quite sure why I took this image. I think the light on the texture of the rock was interesting, and wanted to see if it would come across on film.

The sunset from our Raleigh cabin, having survived an endless trek across a barren peninsula. We earned our wine o'clock!
