Summer was here

The last several days have been Calgary's first summer. Today might be as well, but then we're back to spring. Frost overnight and all. Linda will be covering the plants. There will be some number of summers over the next several months. We just don't know how many, or when the last one will be. It could be August. It could be October. That's why we enjoy them when they happen.

We've had several meals on the patio now, and it's thoroughly lovely. Here's Linda enjoying, contemplating the planting to come.

Here's a closer view of the Muckle Plum

The latest project is touching up the stain on the fence. Mostly along the top rail where it gets the weather. Our neighbour asked me to buy some more stain and do their side of our fence. At first they demurred, saying it was too expensive, but then changed their mind. I pressure washed it yesterday afternoon, and it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. The staining is a bit tricky, since the instructions say it has to stay above 4C for 48 hours after application. Which doesn't look like it's going to happen over the next few days. I'll have to pay attention to the forecast.

Walks in Fish Creek have been a thing, looking for interesting composition. A Photoshop wiz would take out those power lines. I'm not that good, and my attempts would make it much worse.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was the movie Alien.

Some fairly dramatic clouds over Bob's Bench. Pity the view from there is now of a freeway.

  1. Your yard looks fabulous! My parents are big into gardening as well so I know how much work Linda and you must have put into it over the years. The orange tulip photo is gorgeous. It's got a richness to the colours that you can only find after the rain.
