Linda is back, or we were assured there was water

I think I mentioned Linda was off to Morocco a week after our return from New Brunswick. She is home now after 3 weeks of Celina complaints about the inadequate servant situation. Also yesterday I was told the MRI images were as good as they get and I don't have cancer. Yay me!

Knowing there was a drought in New Brunswick I sought advice from locals as best I could before undertaking a hike to waterfalls while carrying camera equipment. Even the so-called easy hikes got brutal in a few places. Brutal for me and my tired feet while carrying expensive camera equipment. This paid off several times, as people in the know said there was essentially no water.

Fuller's Falls were said to never dry up. They were said to be quite pretty and worth the short walk from the parking lot. Judge for yourself.

1. Much of it is along a boardwalk along the stream bed. The stream was not promising.

8. The first view of the falls. Yes, really.

9. A closer view.

So yes, we thought it was quite pretty, and a nice walk, even if we were a bit nervous abut the cable stairs. I didn't take a photo of them, but imagine a pair of stout cables running down a hill. A steep hill. Every foot or so, there is a 4x4 beam with holes slightly bigger than the cable, drilled at an angle so the flat side of the beam is there to be stepped on. A couple shackles on each cable hold the beam in place. A pair of tight chains act as a hand rail. It's actually a pretty neat concept, and one that I had not seen before.

One of the photo cliches is to have a pretty model frolicking in the water at the base of a waterfall. Usually she is freezing her ass off, but nobody ever tells you about that. Quite aside from a lack of water, there were firm signs to not leaving the boardwalk. Pity, there were several really nice spots to pose, and the light was lovely through the trees.

This and the moonrise sculpture are really the only bit of driftwood art I saw.

Newfoundland
It really does look like it's about to fall over, but this is the only angle it looks like this. It really is quite firmly anchored.

Why ever didn't I publish this, and maybe I did
I have no memory of this photo. I have no idea where I was.

90 days, or so ago
I'm dithering here a bit. You know I like a good dither. The oldest photos in the 90 day folder is a block of nearly 40 photos from an around the house tour on August 22. I like to keep sets of things together, even if the set really only exists in my mind. I was thinking I'd blog that block of photos for flowery Friday tomorrow, but then counted, and that seems like a lot of photos. Maybe I'll warn people up front before they click on the link. I know a few of my readers like a nice around the house tour so they can see what Linda is up to.

So the next oldest photos are, you guessed it, more flowers. I really took a lot of flower photos last summer. This turns out to be the oldest photo that is not a flower in the 90 day folder. It's a fine example of the camera not seeing what our eyes see. There was a lovely translucent light through the trees, and the layering was really clear to me.

Flower from Sept 1. If I'd had the wit to spray it with water, this might have made the podium.
