So there Sean and I were, driving back from a ramble. We stopped for a coffee in Nanton and thought it might be worth a longer visit another time. So last Saturday we returned, starting at the Bomber Command museum. I was astonished that he parking lot was nearly full as we drove in. We later found out many of them belonged to the people working on the planes, but there were some guests as well.
I'd been there once, a really long time ago. It's changed and grown. We had a wonderful visit, strolling around the many airplanes on display. Later this month they fire up the Lancaster bomber engines. It's one of 4 Lancasters that are anything more than a static display. Only two are now airworthy.
If you're interested in Canada's contributions to the air war effort during WWII, this museum is a must visit. You'll easily spend a half day there, reading all the info and looking at the models and actual aircraft.
The part that fascinated me was the workshop. Most museums only let you look, at best. This museum lets you in. You can wander around, and the people that are working there are more than happy to chat. They let me stand inside the airframe of the Mosquito bomber they are restoring. I could touch it.

There will be more from the Museum. During a later walk around town I carried around the big film camera, and captured 4 photos. The next day I finished the roll during a walk with friends. Stay tuned!
It was another enjoyable wander. I like the collection of mosquito photos. It was a treat to be able to walk around the plane and talk with some of the restorers. It may be an old photo, but it is still a very good sunrise. Cheers, Sean
