I've had a couple blogs started, and I happily noodled away on them for a bit, then they crashed and burned and I wondered what the heck I was thinking. They still exist in a blog draft folder, but who knows what will happen to them. Sometimes I can come back to them, give them a thorough editorial reaming, and they become fit for publication. Then again, it might be a pig and no amount of lipstick will help.
One draft has been sitting there since mid 2019 or so. It started as a dialogue between me and a friend, but wasn't intended to be blogged in the original form, so it needed some tweaks and I got bogged down on it. I've no idea how relevant it is anymore what with some related blogs that have happened over the years.
Writing has often gone in fits and starts for me. Lots of times it flows, at least by the standards of many people, but it sort of depends on what else I'm doing. If I happened to be doing lots of writing at work, my own writing takes a bit of a back seat. For the last little while I've been churning out the follow up from the characters in my books who just found out they can't have children of their own. Part of their conversation is 'Let's borrow your nephews and let your brother and his wife have some noisy sex again, or maybe see if we can get Moira away from her horrible parents.' That bit about Moira just ticked over 100,000 words, explaining how they ended up adopting Moira, and her meeting family that had been hidden from her, the career that Moira grows into, a creepy uncle, the details of the story about how her adoptive parents came to their marital arrangement, and much more. It's been fun seeing where the story goes.
With all the flower photos happening this time of the year, you could be forgiven for wondering if I take photos of anything else. Which I do. This coming weekend has the potential for photos of lots of other things, and perhaps a great many of them.
