Mostly clouds

Clouds are normally there in many outdoor photos. Sort of like the first couple below. Innocuous.

2. This would be utterly banal without the wisps of cloud, and you might think it still is. A totally clear cloudless sky often makes for difficult photography.

Or they could  be part of the moody drama, especially on black and white film. There's lots of dust spots, and I can't decide if it's better to painstakingly remove them, or clean the negative better and try again. Plus the exposure was a total guess to show the props moving and yet not over expose.

But lately we've been getting a lot of dramatic clouds, complete with thunder and lightning. And rain, don't forget that. Lots and lots of rain. It's one of the wettest Calgary Julys on record.

July Image of the Month

Here we are, beginning of August. Already. Zoom. Normally my IotM posts are pretty much just the photos, because that's where I want the focus to be. But there's a rant brewing. I'm trying to let it brew a little longer. Stay tuned, you might have to fasten your seatbelt for that one.

The biggest block of photos was during the trip to the Royal Tyrell Museum. However, most of them are just photos of the artifacts, snatched between other people, reflective glass, and dim lighting. 

There was a nice canola road trip with friends that produced several images, digital and film, that I'm pleased with. One of them missed the podium by THAT much.

Plus lots and lots and LOTS of flower photos. Linda has been working hard on the garden, and the results are blooming amazing! (I hope you saw what I did there.) She has been on a vole hunting mission with some success. They tore up the lawn over the winter and destroyed a bunch of plants.

The selection this month took a bit of dithering. Lots of dithering, actually. I got down to 5 images and went back and forth.

Flowery Friday 13, peony lovers delight

You will recall Flowery Friday 12, here if you missed it, was a round the house tour. It took a hard left at the end and dived into a peony tour because, well, they're so darn gorgeous I couldn't help myself.
