Thank you for commenting. Thank you for participating in races, and volunteering so others can race. Thank you for supporting other racers. Thank you for going about your life as best you know how in spite of all the exploding dogs and other crazy shit that happens. Thank you for writing about your life in your own blog; many of you are far more inspiring than you realize. Thank you for the emails.

You're welcome.

Wait. Do I have to do ALL of these things to be able to accept the thanks? Are those implied Boolean ands between those sentences? Or ors?

Because even though I've done only a few of the things you list in that paragraph, I'm willing to do them ALL if that'll allow me to take credit for them and accept your thanks because of it.

All, that is ... EXCEPT be inspiring.

That's a deal breaker.

Seriously, though, nice, thoughtful post.Glaven Q. Getting out there when it is cold or when you don't feel like it or when nobody else is out there. I have found my tri-training has helped with mental toughness in other parts of life as well. Success comes from paying attention. Just show up and pay attention and do the work and if your head is in the game, you will be fine.Kelly B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01714590623942266353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368504086012529655.post-44913665764800857022009-10-25T10:21:39.921-06:002009-10-25T10:21:39.921-06:00One of the track club coaches suggested that as we...One of the track club coaches suggested that as we run, we should visualize a hummingbird tethered to a string that is pulling at the top of our heads.

It's an odd visual, but it helps me to stand a little straighter and run much smoother, especially at those points in a long run when I'm getting tired...but you are soooo right, it's difficult to keep that mental image in focus when I'm distracted by other things.

On my blog you asked about my iPhone in my back pocket, and the answer to your question is, yes, I do sit on it if I leave it in my back pocket. Usually, I take it out before I sit down. On Friday, I'd forgotten that I'd put it in my pocket, thus, it went in the toilet.

That being said, I can't image having another phone than my iPhone any more. It's just so darn convenient.Aka Alicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09691390225208616675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368504086012529655.post-82007942921308632712009-10-25T08:51:41.689-06:002009-10-25T08:51:41.689-06:00It is just this kind of self-awareness and opennes...It is just this kind of self-awareness and openness that will carry you across the finish line at IMC, Keith! I've had some of my best races where I was up front (only because the way the waves went off) but the mental boost and visualization it gave me was amazing. Really just didn't want to embarass myself. Sure, you gotta do the work. Hell, I use the visualization, mental games then too. I can SEE my fast running friends and what they look like. You're right, it changes your gait, your form when you just think about them.Missyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15398496906384738920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368504086012529655.post-12739504728398412122009-10-24T20:37:56.143-06:002009-10-24T20:37:56.143-06:00I found myself nodding my head alot reading your b...I found myself nodding my head alot reading your blog post Keith.
