Documenting the state of green

It isn't easy being green in Calgary.  Today is a lovely day, warm and sunny. I ran in shorts and a tech shirt, 4 K, 28:22 or 7:05 per K, nice and easy, no crankiness. There were BBQ bison burgers for lunch  on the patio. Ice cream and blueberries for dessert.

The dahlias continue to bloom, which makes us and the bees happy. (Did you miss the bees yesterday?) Some of the clematis are still blooming, and a few day lilies, plus one last lily out front. The pansys are still going great, as are the roses.

But.

But but but.

It's getting frosty. There's a chance of snow later this week. That will end the dahlia season for sure. I thought I'd take a few minutes and document the garden as it is. None of these are intended to be artistic or anything, and they aren't even particularly tweaked.

Starting from the front corner of the house, and working around.

The last big lily is there, dead centre, but had to see in this photo.

Look at the background. There's a huge thunderhead building, heading this way. We just don't know what's in it yet.

Dahlia central. We'll try to protect them, but several days about zero is likely going to be too much for them.

Another solitary dahlia.
